That is unbelievable that the official website of libjpeg is not visitable now (April 8,2008). Just then I wanted to use this source code. Well, I searched it around google over 1 hour and finally I got it (most are for Linux).

And now I give a link for helping others can download libjpeg source package locally. Hoping others won’t be fucked up like me.

Adding GD Library for Mac OS X Leopard

Thank you ever so much Alex, for pointing some inaccuracies of my post. And thank you for provide such ever an accurate and great tutorial for us.

As Alex released a really perfect tutorial for helping us to adding the GD Extension to PHP5 on OS X Server 10.5.x. I was deleted my tutorial 2 weeks ago because I don’t think my tutorial is useful anymore. And Alex is really conscientious! He has updated his tutorial again, but he seems forgot something(i’m not sure), so I write a “how to” again, any way, most of I write following is a copy of his, so, thank him again for giving us such a great stuff.

Install Apache2 and PHP5 with GD on Mac OS X

Many people (newbies and advanced users) don’t like the re-built version of Apache and PHP on Mac OS X 10.4 because of hundreds of raisons: PHP4 will not be continued anymore; A lot of Libraries and Modules were not installed on the re-built PHP 4.4, for example, GD image Library; The re-built Apache and PHP was not installed as default, so we can’t find the dictionaries and configurations facilely…

Well, anyone that has been wishing to switch Apache2 and PHP5 on your mac, that’s the time to do this:

Requirement and Environment:

  • Mac OS X 10.4.10 Tiger
  • Apache 2.2.6
  • PHP 5.2.4

You must have a C compiler engine and gcc. That means you have to install Apple Xcode 2.4 (I don’t know if Xcode 2.3 runs well on Tiger, so 2.3 version is unrecommended ). You can download Apple Xcode 2.4 in Apple Developer Connection or find it in your Mac OS X DVD.
