Create a Apple QuickTime Icon with Photoshop
In this tutorial I will show you how to create a QuickTime 7.0 icon with photoshop CS3. And this tutorial is very detailed and simple.
And also, this tutorial is telling us how to make a crystal theme stuff, most of steps in this tutorial can be used in creating other crystal theme icons.
I hope you will like it.

Step 1
Create a background by using Gradient Tool (#969696 to #e0e0e0) and use Ellipse Tool (with shift botton) to draw a circle.
And please save this path as “Path1″ and duplicate this path as “Path2″

Step 2
Use your Pen Tool to add some point on the “Path1″and drag them to be like this.

Step 3
Create a new layer named “main”, and fill “Path1″ in this layer with #0084c1

Step 4
OK, choose “Path2″ and press control+T (command+T on mac) to transform “Path2″ to 60% (maintain aspect ratio).

Step 5
Load “Path2″ as a selection and press control+X (command+X on mac) to delete the middle part we don’t need.

Step 6
Edit properties of layer “main”. Enable inner shadow, Drop shadow and inner glow.

Step 7
Duplicate "Path2" to "Path3" and "Path4" (duplicate 2 times), and transform "path3" to 105% (maintain aspect ratio) and "path4" to 131% (maintain aspect ratio).
create a new layer named "temp", fill path4 into "temp" (with a dark color).
Load "path3" as selection, and then press control+x (command+x on mac) to delete de middle area.

Step 8
Press and hold control botton (command button on MAC) to click "temp" layer and you will see a selection.

Step 9
Create a new layer called "light1" and delete the layer "temp" (you can save this selection if you want). Use Gradient Tool to create a light part.

Step 10
Create "path5" with the pen tool.

Step 11
Load path5 as selection and create a new layer named "light2". And then use Gradient tool to make a gradient for "light2"

Step 12
Create Path6 with your Pen tool, it could be like this.

Step 13
Create a new layer named "light3" and load path6 as selection. Choose Gradient tool and set it as radial. Make a gradient on layer "light3"

Step 14
And now save what we have done as a PSD file, because we will use Eraser Tool now. erase layer "light3", get this:
this step is important, if you cannot use eraser tool expertly yet, please set the values conservatively. look at mine.
Erase light3 carefully.

Step 15
create a new path, and save it as "path7", it could be like this:

Step 16
Duplicate the layer "main" and rename it to be "finger1", make sure that layer "finger1" is above the layer "main".
And then, disable layer "main", and delete all the design (I mean the content of finger1) in the layer "finger1", because we just need its layer properties.
The 2nd picture is showing what we see when I disable the layer "main".

Step 17
OK, fill Path7 into layer "finger1" with the foreground color #0084c1

Step 18
create a new path like this, and name it as "path8"

Step 19
Load path8 as selection

Step 20
Save this selection, and give this selection a name you want, I choose "selection_path8"

Step 21
Load path7 as selection

Step 22
Modify the selection of path7

Step 23
Load selection_path8

Step 24
Create a new layer "light4" just above layer_finger1.
Give this selection a gradient (white to transparent) on layer_finger1.

Step 25
Well, then, we add the white part.
create a new path and save it as "Path9"
create a new layer named "finger_white". make sure this layer is above the layer "light4".

Step 26
Fill Path9 into the layer finger_white with #ffffff
and we set the properties for finger_white:

Step 27
We have done! but…maybe we can change the main color to make it brilliant, maybe not if you like the color which we set up before, whatever…

Step 28
Maybe we should add a inverted image? Voilà !
